Parent volunteers are vital to the success of our programs. There are many ways that you can become involved at The Liberty School. We encourage you to contact your child’s teacher or by calling the front office at 970-385-4834. We have opportunities both during the day and after hours as well as tasks that you may be able to do from home. No deed is too small!
A sample of the possible opportunities for volunteering are featured below.
Reading Buddies Oral Fluency Program
Students with dyslexia have to dedicate significant amounts of attention to decoding each word as they read. Because of these demands on the brain, reading comprehension can suffer. To address this problem, Liberty students spend 25 minutes per day dedicated to improving oral reading fluency in our Reading Buddies program. Students are paired with staff and community volunteers, who often bring their canine companions. Our Reading Buddies program is simply listening to children read. A brief orientation is all you need to be of service. You can volunteer once a week, several times a week, or once every few weeks–the choice is yours! Contact us if interested in being a part of our Reading Buddies Program.
There are many opportunities to assist teachers with the preparation of materials, reading with a small group of children, practicing math facts, etc. From time to time, we also need help with specific clean-up tasks and projects and activities around the building. Soon we will be uploading a list of teacher needs, so if there's something you would like to help us with, please contact us.
Throughout the year there are several parties and celebrations. We can always use help in planning, prepping and cleaning up after these events, please give us a call.
