Admissions Criteria

Admission to the Liberty School is based on a variety of objectives and subjective criteria. The Admissions Committee makes every effort to accept children whom we believe will thrive in this special learning environment.

Summary of the application process for the Academic Year 2011-2012:

  • Contact the Liberty School (970.385.4834) to set up a meeting with the Director.
  • Meet with the Director (possibly include student).
  • If the initial meeting indicates a potentially good fit between the student and the Liberty School, the parent and/or student visits the school. (Note: A student visit can be arranged later).
  • After the school visit, if the parents feel the school is appropriate for their child, an application is filled out and submitted with a $100 application fee. Arrangements are made for an in-depth academic evaluation for the student.
  • A comprehensive battery of nationally normed academic evaluations are administered for reading and math, and arrangements made for the WISC-IV (Wescheler Intelligence Scale for Children, fourth edition) to be administered by
    the Liberty School’s licensed psychologist.
  • Meet with the Director to discuss test results.
  • If the needs/abilities of the student and programming of the school are a good fit, then the child is accepted. If not, suggestions and recommendations are made for other, more appropriate programs.

Student Visits A school visit is an important part of the admission process, allowing us to meet your child as well as giving them the opportunity to see the school in operation and to meet other students. The visit is part of our effort to provide a comprehensive assessment of how well our program matches your child’s needs, strengths and learning style. Visits are arranged through the office.

Non-Discrimination Policy The Liberty School strives to maintain a diverse school community. The school does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, creed, national or ethnic origin, or gender in any school-administered programs.
